Congratulations to all the children in Class 2 for an outstanding performance today! It’s still hard to believe that they have achieved so much in such a short time. In just seven days we have learned how to create a production from start to finish. We designed and made costumes after looking at pictures of Caroline in different productions. We found out how opera can be set in any place and at any time and hugely enjoyed using Ancient Egypt as the setting for our production. Our hieroglyph name banners, sunset backdrop, Pharoah head dresses, cuffs and collars looked very striking as the children moved around the stage. Many thanks to Andrea Stanley for helping with our artwork, and to Elodie who wasn’t here today but also helped to make the costumes.
Caroline also taught the children about how to create emotion in their singing, how to carefully warm up their voices and ensure that they breathed properly. Over the week we have played lots of fun drama games to help to build confidence and have also hugely improved the pitch of our singing. I hope many of the children will one day go to see a full opera production of The Magic Flute!
So a HUGE well done to the class who surpassed all our expectations, I’m sure we have some future stars in our class and I can’t wait to see what you go on to achieve creatively! Mrs van der Hoven, Mrs Stephens and Miss Lloyd are all very proud of you.
Finally, one more massive thank you to Caroline, who sings beautifully and has been great fun to work with!
