Carnival! T-shirt and Flag designs!

Today we have been busy exploring different techniques for colouring fabrics for our shirts and flags inspired by the World Cup and life in Rio, Brazil. We have watched video clips of the bright and noisy carnival events and World Cup decorations in the streets of Rio and have compared our lives with the lives of children living in different places in Brazil. The different techniques we used today included masking off sections of fabric and then using coloured dye to paint over our designs. When they are dry we will peel off the tape to reveal the pictures. We also used permanent pens to draw patterns and pictures onto our shirts. Wearing goggles and gloves we then carefully used droppers to dab areas of the colour with rubbing alcohol, which spread the colours with amazing rainbow effects. The finished items are looking fantastically bright and colourful!
